Officials provided new details Tuesday regarding the fire at Woodbury Post Office that burned Sunday into Monday morning, leaving one person dead.

The autopsy for the victim took place Tuesday and the postal service will be making changes.

6 News spoke with the Bedford County coroner and USPS officials Tuesday.

Bedford County Coroner Rusty Styer confirmed the victim was a woman, and that smoke inhalation and thermal injuries caused her death.

The woman’s identity remains unconfirmed as Styer says the results of DNA testing will not be available until the end of this week at the earliest.

State trooper Christopher Fox also confirmed that a state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Tad Kelley, who handles USPS corporate communications for western Pennsylvania, says the Woodbury Post Office is under emergency suspension and that customers using P.O. boxes can get their mail at the post office in Curryville.

In addition, the Woodbury route will be done from Martinsburg for the time being.
