ROCKVIEW, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials at the State Correctional Institute at Rockview said an inmate was found dead in his cell Sunday afternoon.
According to a news release, 40-year-old David Fry was found unresponsive by prison staff just before 4:45 p.m.
Officials said staff members immediately performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. They were unable to revive him.
According to the release, Fry was convicted of second-degree murder in Erie County in 1998 and was sentenced to life in prison. Authorities said he arrived at SCI Rockview on Jan. 24 from SCI Greene.
Officials said as with all inmate deaths, state police and the Centre County coroner were notified. The official cause of death will be determined by the coroner following an investigation.
