Communities in Somerset County came together Thursday evening for a fundraising campaign for a scholarship in memory of Andrew Luteri.

The Somerset graduate and former wrestler died in a motorcycle crash in August of this year.

Wrestling boosters and the family of Luteri started selling T-shirts for the scholarship fund and sold even more at Thursday’s wrestling match between North Star and Somerset.

"He was always here lending a hand. I think if he was here today, he'd be proud of us and everyone in that room out there that we pulled together and (did) this for him,” his dad Joe said.

More than $7,500 was raised for the scholarship in Luteri's name, which will go to a graduating wrestler on the team.

Other students from both schools, who have recently passed away, were also recognized during the match.
