According to Pittsburgh Steelers inside reporter Gerry Dulac, quarterback Kenny Pickett reportedly underwent "tightrope" surgery on his ankle Monday morning.

Pickett left Sunday's game in the second quarter after injuring his ankle while scrambling towards the goal line on a third down.

Following the surgery, Pickett is expected to be out at least two to four weeks, according to reports.

However, Dulac reports that the Steelers are hopeful that Pickett can return by month's end.

Head coach Mike Tomlin referred to the injury as a high-ankle sprain and confirmed that Pickett will not play against the Patriots.

The Steelers are expected to start Mitch Trubisky for Thursday's game against New England.
