Soul Platter Cafe opened its doors a little over two years ago in DuBois.

Their promise being, everyone should be able to have a meal regardless of their circumstance.

"We have a suggested selling price for our food and if you can pay that great if you can't then you can pay whatever you want if you can't that's fine," said Todd Seligman, Chef for Soul Platter Cafe.

Due to COVID-19, Todd Seligman said they had to get creative to continuously provide these "pay what you can" meals.

"We don't see as much business as we did so we worked a lot of different strategies....We use the catering to fund the food that we need for the people who are in need," he said.

He said they eliminated indoor dining and had to cut back hours of operation from four days a week to Friday and Saturday from 11am-1pm.

Though adjustments had to be made, this pandemic is not stopping Soul Platter Cafe's plans of serving the community.

"The first Monday in April we are going to be open in the evening from 5-6:30 providing a free meal to whoever who needs it," said Seligman.

As the weather gets warm, Seligman said they plan to expand outside dining.
