CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County man was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence Friday morning in connection to a crash that killed a woman in July.
Gregory Millinder Jr., 32, of Madera, also was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, involuntary manslaughter, endangering welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, reckless driving and off-road lighting.
According to a criminal complaint, Millinder’s 8-year-old daughter was in the right rear seat of the Jeep Wrangler when he was involved in a three-vehicle crash July 2 on State Route 53 in Woodward Township. She was not injured.
Police said Millinder’s Jeep was traveling southbound and a black 1963 Chevrolet Corvette and an orange 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air were traveling northbound.
Police said Millinder’s Jeep crossed over the double solid yellow line at the center of the roadway, entered the northbound lane and hit the Corvette. The Jeep continued south in the northbound land and hit the1957 Bel Air head-on.
Mary Caprio, 70, a passenger in the Bel Air, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to pathology results, her cause of death was "blunt force trauma to the chest due to a motor-vehicle crash."
Gary Stover, 71, was flown from the scene in critical condition. The occupants of the black Chevrolet Corvette --Daniel Gillette, 68, and Susan Gillette, 67 -- both suffered minor injuries as a result of the impact.
Millinder was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On July 7, police received Millinder's blood test results, which showed his blood contained amphetamines, methamphetamines, clonazepam and 7-aminoclonazepam.
Millinder’s bail was set at $100,000. He posted it Friday afternoon.
Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins said if convicted, Millinder is looking at a mandatory minimum of three to five years in prison.
