UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State officials announced that Allen Road between Curtin and Fishcher roads is closed because of a sinkhole. Officials no traffic will be permitted in the area and that vehicles exiting Nittany Deck will be required to turn left onto Allen Road from Fischer Road to exit Park Avenue. Lieutenant governor opens State House pool for use by kids

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania's lieutenant governor is opening the pool in the official residence he doesn't use to children who typically wouldn't have access to one. Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman announced Friday the new access to the pool at the State House. The residence is on National Guard property, about 25 miles from Harrisburg. Fetterman's wife, Gisele, will run a program to teach water safety and coordinate wider use of the 30-by-40-foot pool.

AMED breaks ground on new Lakemont station

Seven Points Campground now open for the season

HUNTINGDON CO., Pa. (WJAC) — Seven Points Campground at Raystown Lake in Huntingdon County is open for the season. The lake's camping season runs from the first weekend of April until the last full weekend of October. According to park rangers, the camp offers 260 sites. Visitors are reminded all public safety protocols remain in place and must be followed, including wearing a mask when entering any lake property. The Army Corps of Engineers has said in recent years the lake has become increasingly popular, offering a wide variety of activities for visitors.

Baltimore man arrested, charged in fatal stabbing death after dispute at apartment

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore City Police have made an arrest in a fatal stabbing that occurred in July. Back on July 28, 2022, at approximately 6:07PM, officers responded to a cutting in the 600 block of W. Lexington Street. Upon arrival, officers found 50-year-old Peter Riley inside an apartment suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. Police also found the suspect, 56-year-old Jeffrey Chaney, inside the same apartment, along with the weapon.

Golden Basket Chef competition is back, and focused on helping local farmers

BOALSBURG, Pa. – Happy Valley's top chef will be crowned this weekend in the Golden Basket Finals. The event is a collaboration of local farmers markets and it's about more than just competition. Centre Markets, Appalachian Food Works and the Downtown State College Improvement District are working together to make this event happen. Route 422 Fatal Crash

EBENSBURG - One woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash late Monday night in Cambria Township. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said the accident happened just after 10 p.m. on Route 422 near the Route 219 interchange. A woman in her 60s was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where she later died in the emergency room, Lees said. The woman's name has not been released pending notification of the family.
