Crews respond to fatal ATV accident

STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — State police in Somerset County are investigating a fatal accident that happened Saturday morning. According to a release, 21-year-old Alex Fitchett died after falling off an all-terrain vehicle on Boone Road near Huckleberry Highway. Police said while Fitchett was driving, he hit a large puddle and fell off the ATV. Officials said Fitchett died from his injuries after falling off the vehicle. State police and the Somerset County coroner are investigating.

Authorities say a specialized transformer had reportedly failed and caught fire. Firefighters had to take a ferry to the island to extinguish the flames.

Coroner releases cause of death for man found near 'culvert' in Johnsonburg

Officials say an autopsy determined that 43-year-old Benjamin Meyer died from "Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy complicated by chronic drug use." Authorities say Meyer's body was found Saturday in an area along West Center Street, in Johnsonburg Borough.

Ex-CCCTC employee files whistleblower suit, saying he was fired for retaliation

CLEARFIELD - A former employee of the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center has filed a whistleblower lawsuit, claiming he was fired for retaliation. According to the complaint, Franklin Walk had been working at CCCTC since October of 2004 as a computer systems administrator. The complaint said sometime in 2016, executive director Elizabeth Frankhouser asked Walk to repair her computer. Walk removed the hard drive and installed a new one, keeping the old parts in his office.
