HARRISBURG, Pa. - Keno will be available for Pennsylvania residents starting Tuesday at lottery retailers. Keno play starts at $1 and players can choose up to 10 number from 1 to 80. A computer then randomly draws 20 numbers and players can win more if they play numbers.
“Pennsylvania Lottery Keno players are going to love this exciting, new way to play and win,” said lottery executive director Drew Svitko. “Although you can play Keno at any lottery retailer, it’s the first game we’ve specifically marketed to businesses where adults gather to have fun -- such as bars and restaurants.
Pirates trade for Rays' 1B Ji-Man Choi
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly made a trade for Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi.
As part of the trade, Pittsburgh is sending minor league pitcher Jack Hartman to the Rays.
Choi was a member of the Rays 2020 team that lost the World Series to the LA Dodgers.
Choi has played in over 400 games with the Rays, in 4-and-a-half seasons, tallying 320 total hits, which included 52 homeruns and 203 RBIs.
Punxsutawney Rotary Club plants 2,000 trees at reservoir
PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Punxsutawney Rotary Club volunteered to plant more than 2,000 trees at the Punxsutawney Reservoir Friday.
The tree-planting event was held by the Jefferson County Conservation District and Pennsylvania American Water.
Watershed specialist Grace Presselato said the trees were planted near the stream to help stabilize eroded banks and improve water quality.
"We have a stream that has no trees around it and what happens is it will erode the stream banks and create sediment in the water, which is bad for aquatic life,"
Northern lights potentially visible as far south as Maryland
BALTIMORE (WBFF) — People living in the northern tier of the United States may see the aurora borealis Thursday night after a geomagnetic storm launched the northern lights-producing energetic solar plasma toward Earth’s magnetic field.
The show could be visible on Thursday from as far South from the polar region as Maryland, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Oregon, according to geomagnetic storm watches issued Monday by government agencies that monitor geomagnetic storm activity.
Dozens of Yale graduates stage pro-Palestine walkout, demand school divest from Israel
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (TND) — Dozens of Yale University graduates staged an anti-Israel walkout during the school’s commencement proceedings Monday, according to videos circulating social media.
A student in graduation regalia pounded on a drum while others waived Palestinian flags in one clip shared by BreakThroughNews. A student with a megaphone led students in chanting “disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest.”
Other videos showed students whose hands were painted red carrying banners and cheering.
PETA calls for federal probe into Johnstown company for inhumane animal practices
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — PETA has requested a federal probe into a Johnstown meat processing company after several violations for inhumane animal practices were cited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A letter was sent to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady by PETA Monday morning, asking that an investigation be launched into Pudliner Packing. According to the Department of Agriculture, Pudliner Packing was cited three times over the last three years for improperly killing animals as listed in the Humane Methods of Livestock Slaughter Act.
Man sentenced to jail time, probation in animal cruelty, neglect case on Centre Co. farm
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — As least a couple months in jail and special provisions for probation, that is the sentence for a Centre County man who reportedly had animals found dead or neglected on his farm.
State police say they were called to the 150-acre, Curtin Township farm of Levi Byler, in January of 2023, following a report of a dead horse that had been lying in a farm field for a week.
Crews respond to early morning fire in Johnstown
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Cambria County authorities say multiple crews responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning on the 300 block of Highland Ave in the city of Johnstown. According to the Cambria County dispatchers, the fire was reported just before 7:45 AM Tuesday.
No injuries were reported, according to officials. Johnstown Fire, 7th Ward and Upper Yoder EMS responded to the scene. Stick with us as we learn more information.
Clearfield County man charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI in death of woman
CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County man was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence Friday morning in connection to a crash that killed a woman in July.
Gregory Millinder Jr., 32, of Madera, also was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, involuntary manslaughter, endangering welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, reckless driving and off-road lighting.
Buick Cascada on the chopping block
Convertible fans have just a few more months to buy one of the last American-brand drop-tops. Buick last week confirmed a long-running rumor that it will discontinue its Cascada convertible after the 2019 model year.
The 2019 Buick Cascada is the only front-wheel-drive convertible from a Detroit automaker and one of just a handful of four-seat drop-tops left on the market. Automotive News first reported Buick's plan to drop the Cascada but did not say when the convertible will end production.
