Notice of Execution signed for Eric Frein
BLOOMING GROVE TWP., PIKE CO. (WOLF) — Department of Corrections Secretary John Wetzel has signed a Notice of Execution for Eric Frein today.
The execution is set to take place June 22, 2020 after Frein was convicted and sentenced to death for the 2014 murder of a Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Bryon Dickson II during an ambush attack of the Blooming Grove barracks in northeastern Pennsylvania.
According to a press release, law provides that when the governor does not sign a warrant of execution within the specified time period, the secretary of corrections has 30 days within which to issue a notice of execution.
Altoona man made threats, would not allow woman to leave home
UPDATE | Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — State police in Blair County have identified the suspect accused of barricading himself inside a home over the weekend.
Police say 67-year-old John Laird, of Altoona, reportedly barricaded himself inside a residence along East Pleasant Valley Blvd., in Antis Township, on Saturday afternoon.
Investigators say authorities initially responded to the residence for reports of a suicidal male.
Troopers say Laird allegedly would not allow a woman to leave the residence and was threatening to harm anyone who attempted to come to the home.
Westover man accused of sexually assaulting multiple children, horse
Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Indiana County have filed charges against a Westover man following an investigation into multiple child sex assault allegations.
Investigators say 63-year-old Manas Lee is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile nearly 20 years ago.
During the course of the investigation, police say troopers learned of several other victims who reported similar accusations.
Troopers say some of the other victims also reported witnessing the alleged assaults of the other juveniles and some even reported witnessing Lee engage in sexual activity with a horse.

(TCS) — The Illinois Supreme Court is considering a case about whether someone’s Firearm Owners ID card can be revoked for merely being charged with a felony.
Plaintiffs in the case, Aaron and Charles Davis, were charged in Wood River with felonies after firing guns into the air on July 3, 2016. After the charge, their FOID cards were revoked. After pleading down to misdemeanor charges a year later, their FOID cards were reinstated.
'Project Coffee Hopz' hitting Sheetz shelves across Pennsylvania
(WJAC) — Today is the day! Sheetz says its first-ever beer, Project Coffee Hopz, will hit shelves across Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon.
According to a release, the craft beer will officially be for sale starting at 4 p.m. at 55 Sheetz stores. The beer was first made available to the public at a launch party in Pittsburgh May 16.

Houtzdale home deemed 'a total loss', says fire chief
HOUTZDALE, Pa (WJAC) — UPDATE:
According to the Houtzdale Fire Chief, the house fire that occurred earlier Saturday afternoon at 33 Wall Street has been deemed a "total loss." Thankfully, the two residents that were home at the time were able to get out safely. Fire officials have determined the cause of the fire to be electrical and that it originated in the home's attached garage. The fire chief confirmed that at least 9 or 10 crews responded to the scene and that roads leading to the house are still closed or blocked off as crews continue to clean up.
