Annual Ridgway Mountain Fest happening this weekend
ELK CO, Pa (WJAC) — Ridgway's annual Mountain Fest event is being held this weekend.
The event kicked off Friday and will end on Sunday.
There are several activities available including vendors, live entertainment and chainsaw carving.
Mountain Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Cambria County sees crowded race for judge
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The clock is ticking and the race is on for the Municipal Primary -- on Tuesday, May 16th -- to see who will become the newest Cambria County judges.
Five local attorneys are vying for a seat on the bench inside of the historic Cambria County Courthouse.

Shapiro taps superintendent to be education secretary
HARRISBURG, PA (AP) — A school superintendent who won Pennsylvania superintendent of the year and has experience in both the wealthiest and poorest districts will be Gov.-elect Josh Shapiro's nominee for secretary of education, the Democrat said Monday.
Khalid Mumin, who has been superintendent of the Lower Merion School district in suburban Philadelphia for a little over a year, will be nominated after Shapiro is inaugurated on Jan. 17.
Before joining Lower Merion, Mumin was superintendent for seven years at the Reading School District, a majority Latino district that is one of the state's largest districts and one of its poorest.

UPJ's Sports Center getting wooden floor
JOHNSTOWN -- The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's Sports Center is getting a new home court.
A wooden floor will be installed over the existing composite floor with the project starting Sept. 25.

State police have released the identity of the suspect who shot and wounded a Pennsylvania State Trooper Wednesday morning in Northumberland County.
Read MorePolice say charges have been filed against 19-year-old Hunter Shaheen, who was also shot during the exchange of gunfire.
Authorities say Shaheen is now listed in stable condition.
Pirates trade Roansy Contreras to Angels
The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded right-hander Roansy Contreras to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations.
In three-plus seasons with Pittsburgh, Contreras appeared in 53 total games and has pitched over 182 career innings.
He has a career record of 9-12, with a 4.83 ERA.
Contreras was DFA'd last weekend to make room for Paul Skenes.

Crews respond to fire at Jim and Jimmies
CONEMAUGH TWP., Pa. (WJAC) — A fire broke out at the bar, Jim and Jimmies in Somerset County on Sunday night. The bar is located on Somerset Pike in Conemaugh Township.
According to dispatch, the call came in around 10:30 p.m. Fire crews on scene told 6 News the fire started due to a chemical reaction with dish towels.

One woman was hurt, dog rescued from Bedford Co. trailer fire Saturday
BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) - One woman was hurt following a mobile home fire Saturday afternoon.
It happened in the 100 block of Four Leaff Road in Cesna at 2:28 p.m. Bedford Fire Department No. 1 Inc. Chief Gary Cooper says firefighters were on scene for approximately an hour-and-a-half putting out the blaze.
Firefighters from the Bedford Fire Department No. 1 Inc. had help from three other fire companies.
