Woman back on dialysis after doctors remove transplanted pig kidney
WASHINGTON (AP) — A woman who received a pig kidney transplant is back on dialysis just 47 days later after surgeons removed the gradually failing organ.
Lisa Pisano was the second person to receive a kidney from a gene-edited pig, and NYU Langone Health announced that she is stable after an operation to remove the organ earlier this week.
The first patient to receive a pig kidney transplant, Richard “Rick” Slayman at Massachusetts General Hospital, died in early May, nearly two months after his transplant.
Man charged with attempted homicide after firing gun at repo man
REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (WJAC) — A man is behind bars after police say he fired a gun at a man repossessing his truck.
According to Reynoldsville police, a man working with a towing company arrived at a Grant Street residence Halloween morning. Police say the tow truck operator located a Ford F-150 in front of the residence that matched a VIN number that was supposed to be repossessed. Police say the operator hooked up the truck and began to drive away when a woman ran out of the house after the truck followed by a man waiving a handgun.
Driver in deadly Bedford Co. crash pleads guilty to summary offenses, ordered to pay fine
BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — The man charged for his role in a deadly Bedford County crash that claimed the life of a teenager has reportedly pleaded guilty to multiple summary offenses in the case and has been ordered to pay an $850 fine.
Last March, police charged Jeffrey Miles Jr., of State College, following an investigation into a fatal, head-on collision near the intersection of Route 220 and Cumberland Road in Bedford Township in February of 2022.

Lewistown man charged with attempted homicide after stabbing two other men
Mifflin County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Mifflin County say a Lewistown man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed two men during an altercation at a Granville Township home.
According to the affidavit, police were dispatched to the residence, located along Miller Lane, early Monday morning.
Investigators say the caller reported that two residents had been stabbed by 19-year-old Bernardo Petrillo.
While responding to the scene, police say Petrillo and his family were located traveling along Route 103 and he was taken into custody.
Rare great white shark sighting off Alabama coast caught on camera
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A rare great white shark sighting about 30 miles off the Alabama coast was caught on camera.
Researchers at the University of South Alabama (USA) captured video of a juvenile female great white shark hanging out south of the Sand Island lighthouse. According to a news release from USA, this is the first known sighting in that area recorded by scientists, and this juvenile shark has never been recorded before.
Philly police officer was shot twice during vehicle investigation
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia police officer was shot and critically wounded during a vehicle investigation, and two suspects were being sought, authorities said Wednesday.
Officials said the officer was shot at least twice shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in west Philadelphia and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said one officer had approached the passenger side of the vehicle and a struggle ensued with a passenger who opened fire, hitting the officer in the abdomen just under his vest.
Man charged for choking, threatening woman; stealing her car along Rt. 219
Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Somerset County say a man is behind bars after he reportedly assaulted and threatened a woman over the weekend, and then stole her car, all while the two were traveling along Route 219.
Police say on Saturday, officers were dispatched to Route 219 southbound, near the Jerome exit, for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Investigators say the victim told officers that she was driving her vehicle along the highway and that 42-year-old Justin Klink, who is known to her, was in the passenger seat.

Called monarch platform, the robotic endoscopic technology is designed to have a greater reach, vision, and control during a bronchoscopy procedure.
