NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Massive search efforts ramp up nearly two weeks after 22-year-old Riley Strain went missing in downtown Nashville, garnering national attention. This search expands from downtown to Ashland City. Thursday morning, volunteers signed up to assist in a ground search downtown, while several agencies joined forces by water in Cheatham County. Thirteen days into the search for Strain and groups lined up and scattered out, hoping to find clues.

Transportation services at Blair Senior Services not affected by fire

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — A fire at the Blair Senior Services’ storage facility damaged multiple vehicles over the weekend, but it has not stopped the company’s daily transportation services. Investigators say the fire broke out early Sunday morning in the back of the transportation center where twelve vehicles were parked. The president of Blair Senior Services, Steve Williamson, says the fire damaged ten vans and totaled six of them.

Local manufacturer brings jobs to Blair County

SNYDER TOWNSHIP -- Kunzler & Co. is creating dozens of jobs at its Blair County location, according to the plant's general manager, Dave Grazier. The expansion comes a few days after county economic leaders expressed concern over hearing that Cenveo and Appvion, both paper-related businesses, would be downsizing or leaving the area, taking jobs with them. Joe Hurd, president and CEO of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, said last week that he didn't see a trend in manufacturing industries disappearing locally, but the predictability depends on what exactly the companies manufacture.

Man killed in UTV crash in Bedford County

Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — One man is dead after being ejected from his vehicle following a rollover crash in Colerain Township Saturday afternoon, state police said. According to a press release, Toney Parsons, 66, was driving a Yamaha UTV south on Centennial Road just after 2:30 p.m. when he traveled off the side of the road for unknown reasons. State police said he began rotating clockwise as he slid sideways down the roadway before being ejected from his vehicle.

Portage man accused of raping young girl while watching porn

CAMBRIA CO, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Cambria County have arrested and charged a Portage man who is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl on multiple occasions, according to a criminal complaint. Troopers say 28-year-old Andrew Maul faces charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault and corruption of minors, according to court documents. The complaint states that troopers were notified of the assaults in June by Cambria County CYS.

Lancaster County Amish population thrives despite sprawl

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — The Amish population in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County is continuing to grow each year, despite the encroachment of urban sprawl on their communities. The U.S. Census Bureau says the county added about 2,500 people in 2018. LNP reports that about 1,000 of them were Amish. Elizabethtown College researchers say Lancaster County's Amish population reached 33,143 in 2018, up 3.2% from the previous year. The Amish accounted for about 41% of the county's overall population growth last year.
