The Woodward woman charged with murder now says a mental condition will be part of her defense.

That’s the latest in the case involving Brittany Guisewhite, who is accused of stabbing a man to death at her Woodward-area home in April of last year.

In a new court filing, Guisewhite's attorney says a doctor could provide expert testimony that she, at the time of the deadly stabbing, was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and would meet the criteria for Battered Woman Syndrome.

Guisewhite is accused of third-degree murder in the death of Robert Farwell, a man she had been seeing.

Police described it as tumultuous relationship.

Guisewhite told police the stabbing was self-defense and that Farwell showed up at her house early in the morning and threatened to kill her.

But police say others who were on scene say Guisewhite told them it was an accident, and that Farwell was stabbed as he tried to hug her.

In a hearing in April, prosecutors said Guisewhite has a serious drug history and claim that she stabbed Farwell while high on methamphetamine.

No trial date in the case has been set yet.
