WINGATE, Pa. (WJAC) — Crews responded to a late-night fire in Wingate.
Flames broke out at Kelly's Diner in the 800 block of South Eagle Valley Road.
Heavy smoke could be seen coming out of the building.
The diner just opened within the past few months.
Fire Chief Corey Bowmaster described what the first responders were dealing with.
“It started in the basement, and the exhaust fan in the kitchen was dispersing smoke, and with it being in the basement, it was filling up before the fire came out,” Bowmaster explained. “There was a lot of interior smoke and not a lot of active fire.”
There were no injuries reported, but the basement and the first floor have both been deemed a total loss.
There’s no word yet on the cause.
