WASHINGTON (TND) — On Thursday morning, before the Committee on the Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, three suspended FBI agents Republicans deemed as whistleblowers gave passionate opening statements decrying the weaponization of the agency.
I am sad, I am disappointed, and I am angry that I have to be here to testify about the weaponization of the FBI and DOJ," Garret O'Boyle testified.O'Boyle alleged in his opening statements that he was wrongfully suspended from the FBI as a special agent. He provided details of his past service to the United States, including serving in the Army and then later as a police officer.
I never swore an oath to the FBI. I swore my oath to the Constitution," O'Boyle declared before the House committee.O'Boyle concluded his testimony by sharing how he accepted orders in a different part of the country, then the FBI proceeded to suspend him. He also testified the FBI's retaliation against him for whistleblowing included an agency that "refused to release our [his family's] household goods, including our clothes, for weeks."
Another witness before the committee was suspended FBI SWAT Team member Stephen Friend. According to his testimony, Friend alleges he expressed whistleblower concerns to his immediate supervisor within the federal agency over January 6 investigations assigned to his field office.
Working as an FBI special agent was my dream job," Friend testified. He continued, "Nonetheless, the FBI cynically elected to close ranks and attack the messenger."Finally, now-suspended Staff Operations Specialist Marcus Allen, who served in the Charlotte field office, alleged the FBI retaliated against him because he raised questions about the official narrative surrounding events on January 6.
[The FBI is] accusing me of actually being disloyal to my country," Allen explained. This has been a trying circumstance for me and my family. It has been more than a year since the FBI took my paycheck from me," Allen tells committee members.Allen concludes, "there is apparently no end in sight".
