Music lovers "urgently" got their tickets at the box office when they heard the news: a world-famous classic rock band is coming to town.

Foreigner is set to perform at the 1st Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial in Downtown Johnstown on Tuesday night.

Whether the fans are as "cold as ice" or "hot blooded," over 3,000 fans will watch their "juke box heroes" perform live.

"Foreigner is a band that -- all of their songs from start to finish -- you're going to know the song. You're going to know the words. You're going to be singing along in your head," said Box Office & Marketing Manager Chad Mearns.

Even though "it feels like the first time" that a big name like this came to Johnstown, Mearns says concerts have ramped up since the pandemic.

From country singers to family shows, thousands of people have been arriving who "don't want to live without" music.

"One of the really exciting things that we had was a string of five or six consecutive sell outs that we had going from last year into the early part of this year," said Mearns.

Bands have been "waiting for a venue like this," choosing to play locally while putting Johnstown on the map for world-class artists.

Like "double vision," there's a double purpose -- it keeps local people entertained locally -- while bringing outsiders into the region.

We're always really amazed by how far people are traveling distances to see these bands. The fact that they're choosing to come see them here in Johnstown, I think, is a very exciting opportunity -- not just for us the venue -- but also for local businesses throughout the community," Mearns told 6 News.

There's a line up of summer concerts at the 1st Summit Arena, including recently announced Summer Jam and Boyz II Men.

"We reestablished Johnstown as a destination for tours, concerts, performers, family shows, all types of things -- to compliment all of the events that we already had going on here -- such as tomahawks hockey, youth sports, tournaments, and many reasons that people use this building already," said Mearns.
