CENTRAL CITY -- The Indian Lake Marina in Somerset County is under new ownership.

It's a private lake available to hundreds of residents who live along the shore.

And those in charge are now offering more activities for local residents.

Some say Indian Lake has been a hidden gem since the early '60s. It's a 5-mile-long, 500 acre horseshoe shaped lake.

"Never been a day here that hasn't been exciting in one way or another,” co-owner Ed Warshel said. “And yes, we have met some wonderful people here."

Warshel and Scott Miller are the new co-owners of the marina. They’ve been in control since May and they're hoping to make some improvements.

"Trying to utilize some of the marina more than it has in the past for the community," Warshel said.

Many people already take advantage of the lake, including Rick Rager. He spent the day fishing with his grandson.

"It's nice. I mean you can fish one side of the lake and then go around and fish the other side of the lake another day and it works out real good," Rager said.

And that's one of the reasons Warshel said he wants people from the surrounding communities to enjoy the lake too.

"It's amazing how many evenings we actually have out here where things calm down, the water gets like glass,” Warshel said. “It's actually a beautiful place to be in the evening."

And when you're not out on the water, the marina has a full showroom with boating supplies, snacks and clothing.

They also have a full service and parts department open seven days a week while in season.

The owners say it's the beauty of the lake and the views of the surrounding houses that never get old.

"Every time you go out there you see something new,” Miller said.

Saturday, the marina will be hosting a whole schedule of events including face painting and balloons for the kids at 4 p.m. and live classic rock at 7 p.m. Weather permitting, there will be fireworks at about 9:45 p.m.

There will also be food all weekend from "The Dam Food Truck" at the marina.
