Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect Paul Skenes was better than advertised in his second major league start on Friday.
Once again facing off against the Chicago Cubs, this time in Wrigley, Skenes struck out the first seven batters he faced and threw six no-hit innings en route to his first MLB victory.
He finished the afternoon throwing 100 total pitches, and striking out 11 total batters.
Skenes' only blemish was a 5th inning walk to first-baseman Michael Busch.
Chicago finally picked up a hit in the 7th inning, after Skenes was pulled from the game.
Despite a late inning surge by the Cubs, Pittsburgh held strong, helping Skenes record his first career victory in a 9-3 final.
