Kunzler bought out by country's 5th largest pork processor

Kunzler & Company, Inc., the Lancaster-based pork processing company, has reportedly been bought out by the 5th largest pork processor in the United States.

On Monday, Clemens Food Group announced the acquisition of Kunzler, which has facilities in Lancaster and Blair County.

Company officials say that while Clemens will have ownership of the Kunzler plants, the Kunzler name and local operations will remain in place.

“As Chris Kunzler sought a successor to carry forward his family’s legacy after more than 123 years, I’m honored Clemens Food Group emerged as their ideal steward as there are many similarities between our cultures and commitment to excellence," said Brad Clemens, President, Clemens Food Group.

Clemens employs more than 5,000 people, across multiple states.
