WASHINGTON (TND) Hulu has pulled its documentary covering the events of the Astroworld tragedy after facing backlash on social media.
Hours after posting its documentary "Astroworld: Concert From Hell" on Wednesday, the streaming service has pulled the documentary from its platform after sparking backlash on social media, as reported by NBC News.
The news special, produced by ABC's news station KTRK, recaps the horrific events of Travis Scott's music festival on Nov. 5 that left 10 dead and hundreds of concertgoers injured.
In a viral tweet, one fan criticized Hulu for the documentary's poor timing and the company's poor taste.
"Hulu making a documentary about Astroworld is in poor taste all around," the tweet reads. "People are still burying their loved ones. The legal cases haven’t even started. Great documentaries are done when all the facts are laid out. Not enough time has passed to fully discuss this."
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson for Hulu clarified that the documentary was not of the company's making.
“This was an investigative local news special from ABC13/KTRK-TV in Houston that originally aired on November 20th," the spokesperson said. "This was not a Hulu documentary and has since been removed to avoid confusion."
