ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — People in Altoona came together Friday to remember the 15-year-old who was shot and killed this week.
Members of the Altoona community gathered outside Jefferson Park for a vigil for Altoona School District student Devon Pfirsching, who was killed in a shooting Tuesday night.
A wooden cross with Devon’s name inscribed is attached to the fence outside Overflow Church near Jefferson Park.
A collection of flower bouquets has grown over the last several days as friends, neighbors and classmates stopped by to pay their respects.
Several parents and teens stopped by Friday afternoon to write messages on a garment hanging on the fence.
Photos of Devon have been placed beneath the flowers, alongside a collection of candles and crosses.
Altoona police say Devon was shot and killed in an alleyway Tuesday night after meeting with three juveniles, 15-year-olds Owen Southerland and Damien Green and 16-year-old Logan Persing.
Police say Southerland pulled out a handgun and struck Devon in the head twice before shooting him.
All three are now facing murder charges and are being tried as adults.
