After having a "change of heart" and deciding to forgo signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, free agent defensive lineman Tyson Alualu has agreed to a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a team release.

"He's got a lot of talent, got a lot of ability. He's big. He's strong. He does a good job for us. He's smart. He does well with his teammates. He fulfills that part of our defense that we need very, very much when we run the type of defense that we run," said defensive coordinator Keith Butler.

The veteran defensive end/defensive tackle has played in 62 career games for the Steelers, tallying 140 tackles, 15 quarterback hits, 15 tackles for a loss, eight pass defenses, seven sacks and two forced fumbles.

Alualu had initially agreed to a two-year deal with the Jaguars, who drafted him in 2010, but after testing positive for COVID-19 and having some time to "reflect," the veteran ultimately decided to stay in Pittsburgh.
