JOHNSTOWN -- On Wednesday evening, a Johnstown staple of over 100 years announced it was cutting back publishing to 5-days-a-week. The Tribune Democrat will now publish on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The local publication cited the virus crisis and the strain it has put on advertising dollars as the justification for a switch in which there is no paper produced on Tuesday and Sunday.

The Tribune Democrat released a statement on its website saying, Discontinuing two print days will allow us to focus our resources on printing more local news on the other five days. The Saturday paper, for example, will become a weekend edition. It will include advertisements, news enterprise projects, expanded sports reports and other content now contained in the Sunday paper."
