JOHNSTOWN -- Rickie Fowler arrived at Sunnehanna Country Club in 2007 as a skinny golf prodigy out of Oklahoma State who could hit the ball a country mile, and instantly became a crowd favorite.

Fowler won in his debut at 8-under par, and vowed to return the following year to make a run at following in the footsteps of fellow Oklahoma State Cowboy Scott Verplank who was the last to repeat in the Amateur Tournament of Champions.

In his return in 2008, Rickie led wire-to-wire and won the tournament in back to back years at 8-under par. Fowler would become the 4th golfer to repeat at Sunnehanna. That feat was recently accomplished in the 2019 Amateur Tournament of Champions by Alex Smalley who was the only member of the field under par (-10).
