Former Pittsburgh Pirate Sean Casey is reportedly being hired as the next hitting coach of the New York Yankees, according to multiple reports.
Nicknamed "The Mayor," Casey spent twelve seasons in the Major Leagues, most of which came with the Cincinnati Reds.
On Monday, multiple MLB Insiders reported that Casey, who works as a TV analyst for the MLB Network, was being tabbed as the next hitting coach for the Yankees, one day after the team fired its previous hitting coach.
Casey retired from the MLB following the 2008 season and finished with a career batting average just over 300, along with 130 career homeruns and 735 RBIs.
During his 12-year career, he spent one season (2006) with his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates and was a three-time All-Star.
He also played for Cleveland, Boston and Detroit.
